Smart University Forum (SUF) is a current initiative aiming an international reference and opportunity to meet, exchange experiences and discuss academic developments towards open, smart and thriving universities. SUF brought together national and international leaders, senior university staff, noted researchers and strategists, together with key supporters, university partners and beneficiaries.
The forum was attended by the Deputy Mayor of the city of Florence, and speakers that included, beyond Dr. Narimane Hadj Hamou, CEO, CLICKS,Alessandro Barbagli – Head of Sector – ICT Programme Coordination DG Communication Networks, Content and Technology European Commission; Job Rutgers – OCAD University (Canada); Paul Lefrere, IMAGES (UK); David Caruso – University of Yale (USA), etc.
On May 7th, 2013 Dr. Narimane delivered her keynote titled “ Towards the Implementation of Smart Universities: A Multi-facet Approach” The keynote addressed the recent technological developments accompanied with the widespread of ICT and how it has revolutionized the way learning is being delivered at all levels today. New forms of learning have emerged as a result including eLearning, blended learning and technology supported learning. Developing appropriate institutional environments that can integrate technology in an effective and sustainable manner has proven to be challenging and demanding. Technology integration in education and in particular in higher education requires a multi-facet process of change requiring an integrated and coherent vision and strategy that engages multiple stakeholders.
